    JEHM Paintball

    A student at Montagnes secondary school succeeded in getting the teachers and other students to back his idea to create a paintball field.

    Many people in the community had come to the same conclusion as this student, namely that the community, located far from major urban centres, had few recreational options. By working together, the interested parties set up a paintball field, where large combats and historical battles can be re-enacted. JEHM Paintball stands out on account of its low cost, original approach, popularity and the economic spinoffs it has generated.

    Results observed

    In addition to being a tourist attraction in Saint-Michel-des-Saints, this paintball field project provides local youth with an exciting recreational activity in the community. Founding JEHM Paintball helped the students involved develop entrepreneurial skills: autonomy, leadership, tenacity and a sense of responsibility. 

    Involvement and support

    This project would not have been possible without the following:

    • Jeunes Entrepreneurs de la Haute Matawinie (JEHM), a youth entrepreneurship organization that advised the students
    • Guylaine and Suzanne Bellerose, who let the students create the paintball field on their land
    • Chalet du Mont Trinité, located next to the paintball field, also established a partnership agreement with JEHM
