    Provincial prizewinner

    OSEntreprendre Challenge

Grade 1 students were inspired by their school's anti-violence committee to implement this project.

After a local park (Île Pozer) had been the target of vandals who had stolen lilacs and trees, the students decided to repair the damage. They used pots made from recycled materials to grow chives and yellow and red cherry tomatoes, which were then sold to buy plants for the park. These pots were decorated with the assistance of the school's plastic arts teacher.

    Nature of the project

    Results observed

The park is a source of local pride. The students were thrilled to have played a role in its restoration and have made a lasting impact on the city. Participating in this project helped them develop a sense of responsibility, become more organized and appreciate the importance of planning. Each one carried out a task, and the final product represented the totality of their individual contributions. The community itself was inspired by these children to mobilize and preserve the park. An official ceremony will be held to mark the planting of the greenery offered by these students to the community. Local media covered the event.

    Involvement and support

A farmer became involved in the project to ensure its success. After confirming the students' seed choices, he hosted a tour of his farm for the children and their parents. He answered the students' questions and helped them become familiar with the materials they needed: soil, seeds, mature tomato plants, etc.
