    Parcours poétique

    Provincial prizewinner

    OSEntreprendre Challenge

The Outdoor Poetry Route (Parcours poétique) makes taking a walk or visiting the tourist areas in town a more enriching experience. For the students behind this project, it was a valuable lesson in entrepreneurship.

During the regional CulturAT event, the Outdoor Poetry Route was launched. The goal of this project was to enhance the region with art in order to instill a sense of belonging in the community. Along the Route were placed poems written by the students that were inspired by the most beautiful outdoor settings in Témiscaming. A contest was organized for the public to vote on their favourite student poem. The winners' names were announced during a press conference organized by the students.

    Results observed

Thanks to the initiative of students in Ms. Joannette's class, Témiscaming has been enhanced by the Outdoor Poetry Route. The project also had a positive impact on these students, as they became more engaged in the classroom. They were able to demonstrate their resourcefulness and ability to work independently in organizing a press conference and promoting their enterprise in the media. That entire process rekindled school pride about the project. All the student participants demonstrated a sense of responsibility, creativity and trust in their peers to bring the project to a successful conclusion, which proved a wonderful learning opportunity.

    Involvement and support

The community of Témiscaming became enthralled with the project and mobilized to support it. CKVM FM radio and two local newspapers (Contact de Témiscaming and Reflet de Ville-Marie) interviewed the student participants to promote the project. Témiscaming and Kipawa community television stations broadcast the press conference, during which the poems were presented. In addition, the Club Richelier, the Témiscaming and Kipawa Chamber of Commerce, the Centre de services scolaire du Lac Témiscaming and the City of Témiscaming all contributed financially to the project.
