21st Desjardins Grand Prize Gala: The OSEntreprendre Challenge honours provincial prizewinners!
Québec City, Tuesday, June 12, 2019 – Commitment, creativity, pride, and accomplishment were in the air at Québec City’s Palais Montcalm as the 21st OSEntreprendre Gala honoured its provincial prizewinners. Throughout the ceremonies, which were hosted by Anaïs Favron, 600 guests from the 17 regions of Québec were inspired by the unparalleled enthusiasm of the prizewinners, who stood out from the 68 000 participants who enrolled.
In all, 35 provincial prizes were awarded (see attached list), representing a total value of over $200 000. This sum was in addition to the $500 000 already distributed at the local and regional finals of this 21st edition of the Osentreprendre Challenge. Special guests included Pierre Fitzgibbon, Minister of Economy and Innovation; Isabelle Charest, Minister for Education and Minister Responsible for the Status of Women; Marie-Ève Proulx, Minister for Regional Economic Development; and Samuel Poulin, Parliamentary Assistant to the Premier (Youth).
“The collective success of the 21st edition of the OSEntreprendre Challenge and the number of participants demonstrate that Québec is brimming with the spirit of entrepreneurship and that the measures that were put in place are bearing fruit. This is the result of the extraordinary involvement of a variety of players in the education, economic and social networks. Together, we are helping the spirit of entrepreneurship to flourish in Québec, and to become, for many, a lifestyle, a way to act on their beliefs and to thrive as individuals,” said Manon Théberge, President-Director General of OSEntreprendre.
The OSEntreprendre Challenge has three divisions. The Student Entrepreneurship division recognizes the achievements of students from elementary school through to university by encouraging the development of the entrepreneurial spirit. The Business Creation division allows new entrepreneurs in their first year of operations to get feedback on their projects, obtain grants, expand their network and express their enthusiasm. The Successful Business Inc. division highlights former participants who are still in business after five years, and shows their inspiring journeys to success.
OSEntreprendre’s mission is to foster the spirit of entrepreneurship in order to help build a proud, innovative, committed and prosperous Québec. The OSEntreprendre Challenge is a major entrepreneurship competition that recognizes entrepreneurial initiatives by students from elementary school through to university, as well as projects by business creators. The OSEntreprendre Challenge is made possible with the financial support of such committed partners as Desjardins Group and the Québec government (respectively our presenting and title partners), the Ministère de l’Éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur, the Ministère de l’Économie et de l’Innovation, the Secrétariat à la jeunesse, the Secrétariat à la condition féminine, the Fonds de Recherche du Québec, Québecor, Videotron Business, Énergir, the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec (CPA), Saputo, Spektrum Média and Les Affaires.
