    Cabaret de l'Avenir

    Provincial prizewinner

    OSEntreprendre Challenge

The students behind Cabaret de l'Avenir identified a need: to make a profit from the school's multipurpose room. This is what led them to undertake their turnkey room rental and event management project.

Cabaret de l'Avenir offers everything from basic room rental to the organization of an entire event. The student entrepreneurs handle concept development, room set-up and decorations, as well as manage catering services (meal, buffet or cocktail buffet). This project is a first for the school. The personalized approach of this student-run enterprise makes it stand out from the competition.

    Results observed

In one year, Cabaret de l'Avenir had over 30 rentals and was called upon to manage a few productions. The students claimed a share of the Laval room rental market, working with Tourisme Laval to develop an original offer for business clientele. They even met municipal, provincial and federal elected officials to present their enterprise. This project has been an opportunity for them to showcase their communication, organizational and leadership skills; resourcefulness; ability to co-operate; and sense of responsibility.

    Involvement and support

Paul François Asselin, youth entrepreneurial development officer, supported the students as they worked to attain their objectives. Marc Jalbert, general manager of Espace loisir, managed the room rentals and prepared the financial agreement with Collège Letendre. Geneviève Roy, president and general manager of Tourisme Laval, also served as development advisor.
